It's always a sad day around these parts when a car company decides to wind down its motorsport involvement.

This week on GoMotorBids we are proud to announce Fred's pick of the Week. The Fred I am referring to is none other than legendary toy manufacturer Fred Ertl Jr. In late 2008 Mr. Ertl partnered with GoMotorBids to sell the remains of his personal collection amassed over 40 years at the helm of Ertl Co.
After this past weekend's race in Atlanta, there is more NASCAR chatter and debate going down on the internet than we have seen in awhile - and here in the GoMotorBids.com offices too. The on-track confrontation between Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski has a lot of people taking sides.
One good flip deserves another? The Carl Edwards vs. Brad Keselowski feud continues.
I've been really surprised over the past few years at the relative snail's pace that Jimmie Johnson seems to be accumulating new fans. I thought that surely the "Jeff Gordon stigma" that initially haunted him in many fans eyes would wear off after a couple of years, and that as he continued to rack up wins and eventually championships, that hoardes of people would be wearing #48 gear and pulling for the Lowe's Chevrolet. But that hasn't been the case. So what is it about this guy that's so polarizing to fans?
In the most recent WDBB video we feature a couple of very cool NASCAR collectibles, including a special finish Dale Earnhardt crash car. Keep your eyes peeled for these items and don't forget one will contain a $25 GMB gift certificate!
Over the years, there have been some truly ugly cars. However, one unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this week may just take the cake as the ugliest, most disgusting car of all time. Seriously.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the Sbarro Autobau.
Are you just returning to GoMotorBids.com after being gone for awhile? Welcome back! You're not alone - we have a lot of folks who go on "GMB hiatus". Sometimes it's self-imposed; sometimes finances have dictated it; sometimes a spouse has blocked us using parental control software. Whatever the reason, we're glad to have you back. After checking out the site, but before placing a bid, please make sure to check your profile information.
While looking at our GoMotorBids facebook page, we noticed a post by one of our friends. He posted a YouTube link to an amazing video entitled: What Did Fred Buy? It appears as if the What Did Bob Buy idea is catching on. You can bet I will be stepping my game up to compete with What Did Fred Buy and other knock-offs that may pop up in the future.
I am not going to hate too much because my Mom always told me that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And if you notice towards the end of the video (if you can make it that far), one of his items has a GoMotorBids.com auction sticker on it - so you probably could have bought it cheaper from us. Just remember there is only one What Did Bob Buy - and I am man enough to show my face and I am the greatest of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We encourage all of you to check out his video and items, then leave some comments either here or on his YouTube video with your thoughts.
We recently had a nice little drag car collection come through the doors here at GoMotorBids. Since I am not the GMB expert on drag collectibles, I decided to seek out the help of our Marketing Director, Russ Dickey. Note to self, never combine paleness and a giant forehead zit with a striped shirt and a few extra pounds.
While checking out the site today I stumbled across an auction for a 1995 Revell 1/24 scale Ron Hornaday car. This care is not your ordinary, every day Ron Hornaday collectible.
I did some research on this car in our data base and we have only auctioned off a dozen of this diecast in the history of our website. What is so cool about this particular diecast is the paint scheme, the sponsors and the production run. This car was run in the NASCAR Busch(now known as the NASCAR Nationwide) series in 1996 by Ron Hornaday Jr. for Dale Earnhardt Incorporated. The paint scheme was inspired by Dale's famous #3 Goodwrench Car. What makes this diecast even more special is the fact that the production run was limited to only 5,000 and marked Smith & Wesson's debut sponsoring a Stock Car.
If you also look closely you will see the limited preview edition label on the front of the packaging. The sponsorship and paint scheme for this particular car were decided on in 1995 but not scheduled to run on the track until 1996. Revell released this diecast at the end of 1995 as a limited preview edition. This is a must have for any Ron Hornaday Jr. fan or a collector of all things Earnhardt. Happy bidding!
